Yetang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Zheng Jiajian et al. (1974) named the Yetang Formation in the Xingning County. The type locality is at the Longtian section in the Xingning County of Guangdong (115º44', 24º14').
Lithology and Thickness
The Yetang Formation is composed of brownish red siltstone, calcareous siltstone and silty mudstone with intercalations of greyish green calcareous mudstone, silty marl, and thin-bedded gypsum. A volcanic conglomerate bed occurs at the base. It is 203 to 2270 m in thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests unconformably on the Yousheng Fm.
Upper contact
Regional extent
The Yetang Formation is distributed in the area of Meixian, Xingning, Wuhua and Longchuan.

This formation yields charophyte Charites tenuis; ostracods Lycopterocypris sp. and others like conchostracans, plant, spore and pollen.
